World Traveler

That’s a deceiving title because I’ve only been out of the country twice. Once when I was eight and my family went to Italy, where I proceeded to consume spaghetti carbonara (think heavy cream and raw eggs) every day for lunch and dinner and barfed my brains out our last night at the beautiful Trevi Hotel. The second trip that required a passport was to London and Paris for a couple of days. I was on an extreme college student budget and I had the luxury of eating some amazing local delicacies found in a little place right outside of the train station called Mickey D’s. To this day the foodie inside me cries thinking about it. So as you can tell I have a long way to go (figuratively and literally) to become a world traveler, but I do believe in the idea of eating like one. I saw this article and liked the message so I figured I would share. Click on the food heart…

Basically the gist is that we have a lot to learn from the cuisines/eating habits of the world. I don’t think there are any quick fixes out there or any specific diet (not necessarily in the weight loss sense) that are superior to the rest. The idea of taking the eating practices from some of the healthiest cultures around the world (the opposite of the American diet aka Land of Obesity) and using them as your own guidelines is a no brainer. You can indulge in French fromage, Italian vino, Japanese fish, and the lean meats and earthy veggies of the Scanda-HOOV-ians.  The idea to always remember and take from these great places is MODERATION! QUALITY OVER QUANTITY, people. As always…ain’t nothing wrong in some naughty indulgence (exhibit A – previously mentioned week-long carbonara binge). BUT for an overall healthy diet, pick up your culinary passport and go on a trip! Cheers peeps.
